Exclusive: Loud Sound Ghana Talks To J Hit Maker (Juice)

This is an interview we had with J Hit Maker. A Ghanaian music producer who has over the years helped a lot of upcoming artists and also involving in anything that will bring them up...

He gave Loud Sound Ghana a whole bunch of free beats to give the upcoming artists to use for free...

We have decided to have a chat with him and know more about him, his career and also the plans he got in the coming years.... And to those who heard about him but dont know much about him, can also use this opportunity to get closer to the producer... Below is the conversation....

LSGH: Tell Us a bit about yourself...

J Hit Maker: Joshua Nii Kwetey Narh is my real name, born and raised within a respected and humble family of five in Accra, Ghana. Will be turning 31, 2nd August.  Went to Star Avenue school (same Junior High School with Irene Logan), completed Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School  (Presec), Legon in 2000 and IPMC too I did finish my last study. Am into Music and IT. First started music production as Juice Beatz (discovered there's already one later), then i rebranded my name to J HitMaker. But artistes know me as Juice. Am always cheerful, calm and very sociable.

LSGH: How did your career begin as a music producer?

J Hit Maker: Spending 60% of my life to have a better view and understanding of music, i started making beats for a friend (also my mentor) in St. Augustine's (Benard Ocran) when i was 10 yrs, with a keyboard dad bought for me. We recorded directly unto a radio cassette. It was fun so we went on to record with his voice which he used on stage in school.
In 2004, Christian Lokko (a cousin, artiste and cook) brought to my attention a software for making beats and recording. I got it from Leslie Narh, my little brother, tried it and that's when i started getting familiar with digital music cos it had everything wanted in the software. That's how i started.

LSGH: who was the first artiste you ever recorded?

    J Hit Maker: B-Flame

LSGH: How many top artists have you worked with?

J Hit Maker:  Kesse. He was featured on track called Let You Go from Garlingos which i produced.

LSGH: Which recording session will you describe as ''Memorable'' through your entire career?

J Hit Maker: Recording Session with Prof Deen also called 'theHausaRapperMania', D-Flex and Khemikazy. 2 tracks recorded that same night; Judgement Day (Khemikazy ft. D-Flex) and Sonki (Prof Deen ft. D-Flex)

LSGH: How many years have you been working as a music producer?

J Hit Maker: Almost 9 years; my works started becoming fruitful in 2010 when i released The Free Grand 50 (beats) online. www.reverbnation.com/jhitmaker It attracted lots of artistes around the world.

LSGH: What is your speciality?

J Hit Maker: Hiphop, Dancehall, Hiplife, Pop........hahaha my own genres too.

LSGH: Which Ghanaian artiste are you hoping to work with? (Underground or Famous)

J Hit Maker: Sarkodie, i prefer for now

LSGH: What are your challenges as a music producer?

J Hit Maker: When an artiste walks in, sing or rap the same way as another artiste making it in the music industry. Most don't listen to advice and I continue asking myself what he or she wants. Music from such artistes are turned down by most music lovers around the world because of this.

LSGH: What inspires you to do music?

J Hit Maker: Everything that happens around me, everything I see that is yet to happen I put into my music and develop something different…..making history I mean. Hahaha. U know I always believe the world will be very boring if everything was perfect.

LSGH: What plans do you have for the future? Maybe in the next 5 years?

J Hit Maker: Am looking forward to work with prominent artistes and collaborate with other music producers all around the world,
build a world class studio for recording and teaching audio and video production,
 invest into the oil industry,
engage into estate developing,
promote good music that will attract investors into my company,
 establish an IT firm,
open a foundation,
own shares in different companies,
open a child care center,
 and win a Grammy.

LSGH: Do you have any advice for the upcoming artists?

J Hit Maker: Originality comes from within. Develop your own skill and make history.
Don't envy, don't discriminate what you hear from other artistes.
Just do your thing, and do it well.

LSGH: Any shouts to your love ones out there? Feel free to mention names... LOL

J Hit Maker: Many thanks to God above, my lovely parents i always pray will live to enjoy the fruits of their labour, my siblings (Claudia and Leslie) who are also very supportive, my fiancee. To my very good friends; ODB Records, Possigee, Waxi, U Beatz, Zapp Mallet, Sasqo,Phingerz, Krynkman, Frank Guy, Cash 2 and Ray, and Bright of MMC.

Many thanks to you for good music you promoting on your site.
And finally to my fans and individuals who stand by me through thick and thin. I love you all.

Read This: Who Is The Copyright Owner... DBanj or Durella?

I had a sudden sweat running down from my dreadlocks when I received an email from the blogger team about an artists claiming copyright ownership of the song ''Blame It On The Money'', which most of us know was done by DBanj featuring Big Sean and Snoop Lion. At first, I could not think straight and all I had to do was to delete that post immediately to avoid any further troubles.

Then I alerted all my fellow bloggers about the email i received so they know what to do as well... I munched part of the email and sent to them to have a view of the contents in the email... Then I said to my self ''Really? For all the websites that posted this same music, Loud Sound Ghana is the only website attacked on this?''

I got curious and went back to the email to read all over again and investigate if other websites or blogs were notified about this and probably made a post concerning the same issue. What baffled my mind most was the ''REPRODUCTION'' part. We did not make any changes to the song or added anything to it. Below is the email we received from the blogger team...

''Blogger has been notified, according to the terms of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), that certain content in your blog is alleged to infringe upon the copyrights of others. The only question I keep asking myself is; what difference does my post make from others? So after my search on google to see if any other website or blog got the same notification as I did, i came across a post published by www.nigeriafilms.com which was dated Tuesday 18th June, 2013 and it says Durella accused Dbanj of Jacking ''Blame It On The Money''. Then I realized probably, Durella made the copyright claims and reported to Google. But that does not answer my question as to why Loud Sound Ghana is the target. If Durella feels Dbanj stole his song, why wont he send Dbanj to court but rather attack a poor blogger like myself who is just trying to bring entertainment to the good and honest fans in Africa? No name was mentioned as to who is claiming rights for the said track... To be on the safer side, Loud Sound Ghana will not post any music from Dbanj until everything is cleared and sorted out properly. We will bring you developing stories as more come in...

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May...

Our monthly cover art review is here again combining April and May together. Due to work overload in April, we were not able to bring you the compilation. We therefore present you our top 20 artworks for the month of May and April.

These are our opinion and what we think about the following artworks. The artworks listed below are the ones we think tells the story of the artist or the song. They are not arranged in any particular order....

These are the LoudSoundGH top 20 artworks for April and May...

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Lime 2, Gin 1 - Proconcept Compilation. Obviously this was supposed to be a commercial for Gin and Lime combination which features some of the hardest rappers in the game right now.

The cover clearly shows what the song is about and I could just take this cover art and know what exactly the song will be about.

You see the ''Iced Gin'' with the slice of lime floating beneath the ice cubes... It just got as simple as it could and tells the story with no destruction at all...

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Devil In My Temple - Cabum. Before this music was released, the artwork already attracted a lot attention. Some people had a whole different concept about the music and tagged it as ''Evil Overtaking Light'' which was the case but was not really the concept Cabum had in mind.

Listening to the music, he was stuck between 2 forces and trying to make his decisions. Its obvious he was already in the ''Light'' but had difficulties and the darker side is rather promising him a BRIGHTER life. The temple is where he already is and the devil is trying to invade. As you can see from the art, he is stuck in - between good and evil. Thats a really creative and controversial artwork there!

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Chase Da Money - Blixxy The Rap King. Hustlers chase the money and Blixxy the Rap King made that clear in this cover art. You will see Blixxy relaxed in his sofa with bundles of money packed at various positions on his table with his both legs resting on the table...

What I saw in this cover is; the cloudy weather might probably mean tough situations, that is behind him; meaning he went through that and now relaxed with the money all over him. Again, we see no destruction and the art is on the subject. This art will sure tell you what the music is about.

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Igwe - Episode. Igwe is supposed to be a Nigerian word which means KING or Your Highness if i am not throwing dust into people's eyes... But this cover art does show the ''supremeness'' of Episode.

In the music, he said he is the Dancehall king in Ghana and he is back to take his title. You see two statues of Lions on both sides and very iconic symbols of Ghana beneath him.... I guess this shows his mightiness over Ghana as the king of Dancehall and to top it all, his expensively decorated crown. Well, everyone can notice a ''KING'' in the cover art

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Lights On - Yung Boss. This is a very simple but deep cover art. Yung Boss had a simple message in this music and I guess the art could give you an idea about what the song is about.

The artwork just shows two lights in the dark with some sort of extraordinary glow. When i saw the lights, i was thinking they were a pair of earrings but taking a closer look made me realize its actually bulbs fixed in some sort of glass container. Very simple but catchy artwork.

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
I Rule - Kobla. This was off his G.O.E (God Over Everything) Mixtape. Kobla says he ''RULEs'' and looking at this cover art, you see something more intense than a normal King...

This looks like a whole Kingdom and something out of this world. Its like a whole new realm, which I think says something about the kind of ruler he is. He rules a peculiar kingdom and that kingdom is music.

You need much talent to be able to do music, and to be called the king in the music world, you need special abilities... This makes sense to me when this cover art represents ''I Rule''

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
LoudSoundGH Cypher For April. For the first time we see some connection between the ''Cypher'' idea and the artwork that came with it. We usually get people who does the art for us and we really appreciate every single one of them but this shows something more ''wild'' and ''crazy''.

The art had our traditional Green and Black colours and the ''CYPHER'' written with Ghanaian colours across it and leaving some cracks in it. That makes the art catchy and very communicative.

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Gimme Dat - D3. This artwork was done is different ways and we chose this one because you can see the ''Gimme Dat'' in the art...

The girls are trying to reach out for something and the look on their faces really shows they are craving for it! Im not here to tell you what they are craving for or what the music was about. But you can just check the song out and you will understand what this ''Gimme Dat'' thing is all about...

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Chuk Am - Gage. Do I have to write something about this too? Or you may not understand what ''Chuk Am'' means? LOL!! The London boy just had to get the whole message from the music unto the cover art.

Chuk Am is all you see in there. I may say the cover art and the music just work hand in hand. Its happening right here people! You dont need to be told!

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
LoudSoundGH Favorite Playlist. As the name goes, this was a mix compiled by Dj Baddo from Nigeria as a gift the LoudSoundGH and to the upcoming artists who's tracks were featured in the mix.

The art shows the turn tables and some disco effects with some people having fun in there... How simple could this be expressed in an artwork? It makes a lot of sense and this is why its counted in our top 20 artworks.

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Marry Me - Cho Baby. This is almost like a video shoot for me... Cho baby actually spent time to get a real shot of himself in a black suit, a rose in his left hand and a ring in the right.

This is absolutely a very romantic way to ask someone to marry you. (Talking to the guys though... Dont know if women propose that way too... LOL) But on a serious note, this is one classic cover art and got a very romantic connection to the song itself.

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Getting Paid - T Bone. The Nigerian rapper T Bone rather chose to play with the words on this cover art. The artwork got a good taste of colour choice and lettering is just perfect. The ''PAID'' filled up with bundles of money and ''scary-like'' background...

If i saw this without the track, i would say its a movie poster. Just because its well presented and simple.

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
FanteDote Mixtape - Kahaz. I dont know if monkeys are very common in the Fanteland but the rapper rather chose to keep things ''African'' on this cover art.

I think it portrays the African culture and our rich values. You see some ancient African arts in the background which I can say expresses the rich Ancient Africa wall paintings. From our point of view, Kahaz kept everything traditional. From the art to the whole mixtape!

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Mothers Day - Spydee. We saw a lot of artworks when it was mothers day. But spydee's artwork explains the importance of ''Mothers'' showing a couple of women carrying their children at the back and some at the front. The whole idea is to show the sufferings of our mothers and how thankful we are to them on a special day as the ''Mothers Day''

Art work was on point and this got great connection with the song itself.

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
To My Ex - Tenkorang. Tenkorang wrote a letter to his Ex in this music addressing some very personal issues... But whiles he writes his letter, the memory of the girl still runs in his mind.

Even though it looks too foreign, I still think it says something about the song and the concept is still on point.

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Party Gbee - D Black. The Ghana Bwoy A.k.a. Alhaji Kiti did create a very funny cover art for his single Party Gbee... A party Gbee is someone who takes advantage of every party and try to enjoy every bit of it.

D Black looks like he wants to take the whole party to his house or to the next part. 3 different kinds of drink, and a plate full of stuffs to bite. Oh... and his little party hat! LOL! This is one funny cover art and you must listen to the song as well!!

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
My Story - Obibini. Obibini said a very beautiful story about his career and other things around him. In this art you see a piece of paper with somethings written on it and a microphone standing by for him to tell his story after writing it.

In my point of view, this is like writing a story and telling the whole world about the story. This makes sense and I think its a very creative artwork.

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Touch Of Magic Mixtape  - Fatao Cue and Kojo Cue. This shows the Magic by which this Mixtape was derived from. You see a huge book and a magic wand commanding some musical notes out of it.

The lettering looks magical and there is no other way to explain ''Touch Of Magic'' much better than this. Great artwork with a golden touch of Magic.

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Mary J - Moelogo. Well, this was one of my favorite; probably because its about the sweet girl ''Mary J'' You need not to look further to see Mary J all over Moelogo.

If you cant see Mary J in this art, then I guess you need a third eye to see Mary J all over the place.

LoudSoundGH Top 20 Cover Arts For April And May
Beautiful - X.O. Senavoe. What you see in this cover art is the definition of beauty. The lady in the cover art is dressed in traditional stuffs. I cant really tell if that is a ''war gear'' or ''Ceremonial Gear'' but whatever it is, brings out the beauty of this African lady and makes her look unique.

Beauty in the eyes of the beholder but I bet most people will find her beautiful

You can tell us what you think about the artworks too and those that you think shouldn't have been here at all... We will love to hear your Views!!

Top 10 Cover Arts On LoudSoundGH For March...

Cover arts play a very important role in music promo but its most times ignored when it reaches the listeners. To me, I see cover art as a way of knowing or having an Idea what the music is really about. If its about love, comedy, religion, politics, etc...

We have decided to give credits to some of the good cover arts we get on our website; to encourage more artist to create cover arts that is more related to their contents...

Klu and Mr Eazi - OHEMAA: Ohemaa means ''Queen'' in the Akan language. This cover got a beautiful African lady wearing a very colorful African print dress. I guess you can see the Queen in the cover immediately you see it... Very simple cover art and it tells the story of Ohemaa...

Bebelino - FRESH: The one who did this cover art must gone deep in imagination! Its just a perfect way to put freshness into an art... Well, take a look and tell me if you dont see freshness... It relates a lot with the title of the track... This is one fresh cover art!

ID Ft. AJ Omo Alajah - FAITH: This is another cover art that makes a lot of sense to me. Faith is almost like coming out of the dark and and holding on the brighter part of life. Both artists looks high spirited and looking up to a bigger and bright day... I think this cover got a good connection with the title FAITH...

Smallzie and Granula - Good,  Bad: This music talks about being good and being bad... When you take a closer look at the cover art, you will realize there are some hidden characters. Good written in white and Bad in Red. It makes a lot of sense after listening to the music itself. This is another creative and deep cover art.

Dj FrenchKiss - AZONTO AINT DEAD: This is a party mix but for some reasons, you dont see a club scene with people dancing around. What you see is an abandoned factory with sun rays trying to penetrate through... I see the rays as LIFE and the abandoned factory as ''Azonto'' No matter how people try to neglect it, there is still some life in there.... I think this art makes a lot of sense about Azonto Aint Dead!

Dj Tomisin - Afro JukeBox: I love this art because when Dj Tomisin said this mix was an Afro Jukebox, he really made that understood in the art. It does explain the title as well and got great connection with the title... Jukebox were used soo many years ago; and I thinks the Black and White is just the right choice of color shade to use...

Dj Bibini - Made In Ghana Mixtape: I had to take a closer at this art to see the bigger picture hidden behind the text. You will see a castle and a loose tape from a cassette. The castle is something that has been in our history books, on our currencies, etc... To me, the castle is one thing we can all identify as a historical mark in Ghana. So when its made in Ghana, it makes sense to see the castle in the background and loose cassette tape on the fore background... Deep cover art...

Okizona - JACKPOT: What more can I say about this cover? It makes absolute sense and says exactly what the title says... Nice and catchy art i must say... Its very appealing to the eye...

Ball J - TOGO BIKINI: When I saw this art, i knew the song was gonna be funny... well, i was not wrong about that! Ball J talks about taking the girls to the beach and stressed he does not want any of them wearing ''Togo Bikini'' I dont know how a TOGO BIKINI looks like but I think the cover art should put you in that mood even before downloading the track... Nice cartoon cover there!

Eyirap, Dein, Yayra, Lila - GIRLZ DORM CYPHER: Despite the hard bars these girls spitted on the cypher, they managed to keep the cover art more ''Girlish''... The color choices and the text fonts... I guess everything is just perfect the way it is. And you see them with sweet poses at the background... But dont let those smiles fool you... These girls are sick rappers!!!

Loud Sound Ghana Cyphers 2013

There are so many MCs in our perspective with different values and exported projects outed into our system to attract an ear drum. To combine their various differences in-terms of entertainment, there exists "A Cypher". Since ages and the times of man, poetry comes into our daily life activities. With the use of "Rhythematic African Poetry" we term as "rap" which blacks developed, a cypher creates a linear platform either "camera-faced" or "people-faced" to draw an attention with the outcomes of Rhythematic African Poetry(rap) ; regardless of their language differences. By so doing, it creates an opportunity for the less recognized dope rappers to showcase their talent with the privileged and recognized ones.

LoudsoundGH is creating such a platform or the Ghanaian underground good rappers to prove themselves wealthy of the term "DOPE". We are giving them all the opportunity to express their lined rhythms every month. Starting this 25th day of February and as it will always be every 25th day of every month, hot MCs will be combined to rock an instrumental produced by our trusted engineer to get the hot cake eaten.

Representative artists will be fetched from the various artists on our promo list to contributes to this frequent epic to attract the ears of those who listens and those who overhears.

We will SOLELY SELECT or INVITE the various artistes to flow a 16bars-beat produced by our engineer. Also, the artistes for this glorious platform will be selected or invited on how well we know their projects and it will feature versatile artistes.

As we promised to help these underground artistes, you will all bear witnesses that, it is exactly that and more that we are delivering to our honored fans. And we take no delight in being partial of having favorites in our actions.
