Exclusive: HIGHLIFE LEGEND FELIX OWUSU BREAKS SILENCE.

HIGHLIFE LEGEND FELIX OWUSU BREAKS SILENCE.
The ace highlife musician in an interview last Monday revealed he took a break to make a family and  is now back to music full time.  He said shooting videos of these old hits is to make the youth today know the main person behind these songs and also re-brand it for the new generation because some are already enjoying them but don’t really know who is behind these hits and unfortunately give credit to some other musicians in the country thinking they composed them.

The pioneer of highlife who has being in the industry for decades and also has ten albums to his credit said most of his colleagues highlife musicians today are not recording because they feel with their experience they still have to stick to their recordings of full albums before coming out but the trend has change to releasing of singles now and he see nothing wrong with it. “Now to record a full album before promoting it has become very expensive but with singles you can easily enjoy some gigs and then go back to the studio to record the rest of your songs. One thing that I think has become a problem in Ghana is the fact that all the radio stations are trying to do the same or have the same programme line up. When you go to other countries we have each station and it’s style or kind of songs they play. Here we don’t have a highlife station, no hiplife station, so at the end of the day one sits on the other depending on what the public yarns for at a particular time and it not helping the highlife industry” he stated.

According to him most DJ’s on radio now are youngsters who also want to be hip because that’s what the listeners love to hear and so will not be playing much of these old highlife music to get some of his listeners tuned off and this is not helping. He wish each radio station brands it’s self with a kind of music in the country. He also noted that highlife is not going to die so radio stations should rather brand themselves with it to help promote what’s from home. “Now the industry is kind of crazy, it just dance and show your butts all over so people or musicians now don’t write songs and that’s how come we don’t enjoy good quality music’s anymore” he said. Referring to an article that quotes Amakye Dede saying highlife will die because the youth now don’t have it as a choice of music, he said he will agree with him on the fact that the youth now are not into it but highlife itself is never going to die. It is the root of Ghana music.

He further noted that Ghanaians should be proactive in their marketing of songs and acts from the country because that’s what keeps the Nigerians flying now. Our songs should advice, it should have content, and videos should be African, simple. It’s not about shooting expensive videos, but rather the content of your songs.

He advised the youth in music today to be very careful with their target audience, know who exactly they are composing songs for and should stop attacking each other with songs. “It not healthy for our music industry, we should be very positive because at the end of the day some songs are going to live, others are going to die. I enjoy the songs people are doing today and I love Sarkodie but we should be positive. In a few years to come, there are songs we can’t play them anymore. In composing my songs I think about making something ever green so people can enjoy just as they are enjoying songs I did about 10, 15 years ago” he said.

Shatta Wale Responds To Sarkodie's Freestyle

Shatta Wale Responds To Sarkodie's Freestyle
Sarkodie dropped 2 massive freestyles yesterday, which had just few hours intervals of release... The first was ''Kumasi" and the second was titled ''Shatta Wale''... As I said, the freestyle was not really about Shatta Wale, but he did mention he (Shatta Wale) is his N*gga...

A lot of people rather got it twisted and said it was a tease, but i stood to my words and was very sure Sarkodie was positive about mentioning Shatta... Sometimes these artistes can twist your mind and you wont know what to suspect anymore... LOL... Finally, Shatta Wale tweeted to confirm he is really cool with Sarkodie and described him as a "Guardian Angel"

See tweets below...

ANTICIPATE: Kwaw Kese In The Studios With Hammer

Kwaw Kese a.k.a. The Man Insane, a.k.a. Abodam and now being called by many as "Kwaw Yeezy" is in the studio with Ghana's most finest producer; Hammer! The rapper is currently cooking something new and information reaching us says, this new tune will be out real soon!

Kwaw Kese started it all with Hammer and I am very sure about what the end result will be when the track is done! I will say he is much affiliated with beats produced by Hammer and murder is definitely gonna be the case... I dont know is what this song will be about.... And I am not trying to get ahead of myself here but I suspect there might be some punches thrown to the Vodafone Icons Organizers since there has been some few disagreements few days ago... Again, I am not saying that is what the song is about; but that is what I think...

Incase you are wondering why they call him "Kwaw Yeezy", its because he did the "Kanye West" thing at the Vodafone Icons Finals... His stunt was a bit extreme because they could not even announce the winner... LOL! Watch out for this new one... Its worth anticipating for!!

VIDEO: We Were Called To Pay 10,000GHC Before Buddah Will Win - Kwaw Kese

We Were Called Pay 10,000GHC Before Buddah Will Win - Kwaw Kese
Earlier on we had word that Kwaw Kese interrupted the announcement of the Vodafone Icon Street Edition winner... This video actually explains the reason why Kwaw Kese took that decision and went on stage to halt the whole show...

The rapper confessed someone from the organizing team called them to pay a sum of 10,000 GHc to enable Buddah (His younger brother) emerge as the winner of the vodafone Icon Street Edition. His point was, since they did not pay that money, and Buddah got evicted, it means the judges are not being fair about the whole thing... His only revenge is to step on stage and turn everything around...

Hmmmm Ghana! So talent hunt is not really about looking for real talent anymore... Its all about who is rich instead? If Kwaw Kese is telling the truth, then its very obvious it is these same talent 'hunters' who are killing the best talents we have... Watch the video below and share your thoughs...

VIDEO: Kwaw Kese Goes "KANYE" At The Vodafone Icons Finals.

Kwaw Kese Goes "KANYE" At The Vodafone Icons Finals.
Most people call him the "Man Insane" or simply "Abodam" which means Madness... The rapper is rated as one of the most controversial rappers Ghana has ever experienced... His younger brother Buddah was part of the this year's Street edition of the Vodafone Icon; but was evicted at the top 2 stage.

Kwaw Kese halted the announcement of the winner by climbing unto the stage! This made the South African Idols judge and Universal Music executive, Randall Abrahams and Vodafone's Uche Ofodile to exit the stage with the prize for the eventual winner.

The crowd went gaga  as Kwaw Kese takes a stroll on the stage... He then incited the crowd to chant "Buddah, Buddah, Buddah"

I believe apart from Kanye West, Kwaw Kese is the only person to pull out this kind of stunt... I know for sure, he is the first to do this kind of thing in the whole of Africa! I think the rapper just lifted his controversial status! Watch video below...

I Don’t Smoke Or Drink -VIP’s Promzy

I Don’t Smoke Or Drink -VIP’s Promzy
VIP member Promzy is the only Ghanaian musician with the largest tattoo
Promzy, one of the popular members of award-winning music group VIP has told NEWS-ONE that contrary to public perception, he does not smoke or take alcohol.

The rapper who recently sustained injuries from a stunt during his group’s video shoot was rather criticized for the incident, as his injury was blamed on an alleged smoking and drinking habit.

However, Promzy has been talking to the issues after the incident, saying he was wrongly judged for the accident that occurred.

According to him, he is not the kind of person people think he is. “I don’t smoke, I don’t drink,” he declared.

“Actually I did jump… I got a deep cut on my arm and my thigh also hurt, but I’m ok now. I was just trying to do something out of the box. I heard people asking, ‘Why, he went to smoke or he went too high?’ No, I don’t smoke, I don’t drink,” Promzy had told NEWS-ONE after a VIP press conference to announce its new artiste on its Boogie Down Nima record label last Wednesday.

He said he decided to jump from a 40ft-roof, because, “I am that type of person who believes in seeing and believing it… I don’t like to fake. I like to be real. I was just trying to do something differently. That was why I jumped,” he explained.

Born Emmanuel Ababio, Promzy is one of the members of VIP, a group which has contributed immensely to Ghana’s music industry.
