OKYEREMA Advises Awal and Tuutulapato's Management
Its awesome to see kids putting words together on a beat to put out a song all by themselves... Sometimes, they say things that is totally above what someone at their age could say... The kind of words they put together and rhyme with it; is something that leaves questions in the minds of many. Two of those kinds popularly known are Awal of Rap University and Tuutulapato.

These young guys just took Ghana by surprise as they got the chance to unleash their talents. However, there some things we need to pay attention to; knowing they are young and loved by many kids out there. One thing Im not sure about is how they get their lyrics. Tuutulapato on several occasions said he does not seek assistance from anyone when putting his lyrics together. The most shocking part is; he does not write his lyrics at all...

OKYEREMA, a Hiplife artiste and the front liner for ASHANTIMONKFUNK did raise an issue about the contents these kids put in their songs... He expressed his concern on facebook this afternoon... I quote

''I think Awal and Tutulapato need some serious management. Some of their lyrics doesn't match their age at all. Almost all.''

He went further to explain in details...

''Even some of these grown ups doesn't know what they are doing... How much more a boy at his age? Lil Romeo n' Lil Bow Wow could have spit about guns and whores in their raps when they dropped their 1st debut cos thats very common in yAnkee. Plus their Godfathers were/are gangstaz, talking of Lil' Romeo's father Master P n Lil' Bow Wow's uncle, Snoop Dogg. But they were properly directed and well managed! Another examples are young stars Hannah Montana, Sean Kingston n' Justin Bieber or what ever his name is... Lol They do things accordingly, as to their (teen) age/ college-life n' features their age mates in their videos. Not oversize. They did not speak sh*t and diss b*tches till their d*cks were strong enuff to f*ck. Lol #PopeSkinny #Awalmanagement #DoSomething''

I strongly believe this is an issue they should take seriously because, these young guys are like role models to our children, nieces, nephews, etc... These young ''Stars'' attend kid's programmes to perform those same tracks and they are allowed to this freely in front of a bunch of small boys and girls... What kind of messages are these kids taking from their ''Role Model's''?

I personally like both artistes (Awal and Tuutulapato) but lets not forget they are young and most of their listeners are kids just like them, even though they are loved by adults too. I pray this gets to their management so they can dilute their lyrics and make them ''Child Friendly''

OKYEREMA Angry At ''Self Made'' Title Holders...

OKYEREMA Angry At ''Self Made'' Title Holders...
I think the music industry this year, got more competition and challenges than other years since artists put self acclaimed titles on themselves... Everybody seems to be a KING or THE BEST at what they do. Im not saying I have a problem with this but we kinda have too many captains in one ''SHIP'' which is making this ''SHIP'' difficult to sail smoothly.

With all the drama that went on at the recent Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and and the aftermath; artists releasing singles to address fellow artists and others attacking Charter House and so on... I agree music should be the most convenient platform to address pressing issues if you want to get to the masses faster... Which is why using that medium to express one's feeling is generally accepted... After all, its a free country and we  have our freedom of speech!

Just a while ago, OKYEREMA of the AshantiMonkfunk wrote a very controversial status on facebook and I quote...

''LISTEN: If you call yaself a Shatta, Gangsta, Singerholic, Rapperholic, Executor, Kneega or Wacksta; OKYEREMA dey come collect FAT dues from y'All SOON and go back to UNDERGROUND where HE BELONGS. I've been UNDERGROUND watching the game for soo long. It is time to step in and get HIPLIFE back on track. I dey come "kwashey" all these self-made-title holders and TEACH them how it is done! Who says he is the King?''

OKYEREMA has been one of the Toughest underground artists way back and after reading this, I kinda feel he got something under his sleeves... There is a saying in our local language that ''If a blind man says he will hit you with a stone, then you should know he got his foot on one already''

When he was addressed as the KING of the underground by a fan, he replied "I can only accept the king's title if ma people crown me as the King. I can't take by-force. I dont even want to be called a king. I am a Master Teacher (RABBI).Kings loose their Crowns but Teachers stay Intelligent"

Lets see what will come out of this... But one thing I can promise ya'll though! The Music Industry In Ghana Dey Come Bee K3k3!!

OKYEREMA Talks About MUSIGA, CHARTER HOUSE, VGMA and More...

OKYEREMA Talks About MUSIGA, CHARTER HOUSE, VGMA and More...
I am afraid i can't say much about this VGMA thing... Lol A lot running through my mind. The stage-art/design was quite impressive last night. The stage was spacious enough to carry the performers. Lights, backdrops/graphics and all that were somehow better than the previous years.

Ghana have money. The Muzik industry is also growing... People don't care nowadays to spend 200ghc just for a show like this. Also, MUSIGA was very potent this time around. They did a whole lot of excellent works. I have been monitoring their steps towards this year's award for the past 6-months. I think my little advise/letter to the MUSIGA after last year's VGMA was taken. Last month, i received this short message from Bice Osei Kuffour saying...

"I am making action on your letter on the awards. I hope you have heard about it in the media. Our Musicians Truly Deserve more"

Truly, I could see some changes here and there in the last night VGM Awards. The Musicians Union of Ghana did well and i am expecting more from them. The car giving to the Artiste of the Year from the MUSIGA board wasn't a bad idea at all. I don't understand why some entertainment activists are condemning the MUSIGA for giving car to the overall winner. I think when someone deserves a praise, we should go away with all the hypocrisy and appreciate them.

I support MUSIGA on this course but i think an INSURANCE would be far better for our artistes than the car. Which Artiste in GH don't have a car? Most of the musicians have a car. Some even have more than 2 cars. The board should take INSURANCE into consideration. At least the INSURANCE can support/cover them when they are old or no more in the game. "Awie ne asem no". I've been seeing many artiste driving good cars yesteryear's  popping here n there and later dying broke! Lol So to me, MUSIGA should rather add or replace INSURANCE to that of a car.

A week before the VGMA, some artistes were also given awards including the Best Producer/Sound Engineer, Indigenous Artiste etc. I was expecting the Cheater House to at least mention all those names at yesterdays VGMA. Their works should be known. There shouldn't be anything like (backdoor) awards. If they were given that awards earlier to save time for the d-day, they should @ least show it on the screen for everyone to see.

About the selection of the nominees, and the award winners, i think nothing have changed so far. The same ol' shiizz. The Cheater's House is not a Muzik body.. I will keep saying, they know nothing about Muzik! They are just good at organizing it, frauding the sponsors and using the most popular and fragrant flowers (Musicians) to attract many bees (Fans) into their bee-hive (Conference Centre) to produce honey (Money).
