New Lil Wayne documentary to debut on BET
Rapper Lil Wayne’s “DEWeezy” commercial will be the subject of an upcoming documentary that is slated to debut on BET this weekend in the USA. The documentary follows the development of the “DEWeezy” commercial that was created as part of the New Orleans rap star’s deal with Mountain Dew.
Director Chris Robinson and Robot Films worked with Stoked, a “non-profit action sports youth development agency,” to create the commercial.
Stoked worked with 10 teenagers from the New York City area, who teamed with various industry executives, and employees from Mountain Dew, to co-create the :30 television commercial spot.
The making of Lil Wayne’s “DEWeezy” commercial with Mountain Dew is slated to air on BET on March 31 at 11:30 PM.

Radio station stops playing Rick Ross and Lil Wayne music
A small radio station in Michigan has opted to remove both Rick Ross and Lil Wayne from their playlists. Both artists have been particularly controversial in the past few months for a variety of reasons, ranging from drugs, to Emmett Til and, most recently, Rick Ross lyric that seems to advocate date rape.
WUVSIp 103.7 in Muskegon, Michigan issued the following statement.
“Many would say both rappers have taken their lyrical content too far and offended too many. The family and estate of [Emmett Till] have released a statement of disapproval over Lil Wayne’s disregard and disrespectful lyrics. Though his record label issued a statement of apology, the rapper has yet to do so. In the case of Rick Ross, a petition has been started over his blatant disregard for women and the issue of date rape. The U.S. Department of Justice estimates that over 300,000 women are raped or sexually assaulted per year in the United States alone. That is a disturbing number and should not be taken lightly. His lyrics not only condone the behavior, but he boasts about it in the song. While some feel it’s only entertainment, many feel it sends and encourages the wrong message. Several individuals and organizations have taken a stand and so are we. Effective immediately Muskegon’s WUVSlp 103.7 the Beat has pulled ALL Lil Wayne and Rick Ross music from rotation. We pride ourselves on playing music that is non-degrading and non-violent. While we believe in freedom of speech, creative writing and individualism, we refuse to be part of the problem by spreading messages that could harm or end someone’s life.”
No other urban stations have formally take such a hard stance against the artists, despite the controversy.
Neither artist has commented at press time.

Good News: Lil Wayne out of ICU
There seems to be some good news for Lil Wayne and his many fans around the world. The 30-year-old rapper has reportedly been moved out of the Intensive Care Unit at Cedars-Sinai hospital on Monday, March 18 after being readmitted on March 13.
According to TMZ, Wayne (real name: Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) is now in stable condition and is walking and eating on his own. The “Lollipop” rapper was first rushed to the hospital to treat severe seizures on March 12. He was released the following day, only to be readmitted soon after.
TMZ initially reported that Wayne was being read his last rites, but the rapper tweeted March 15 “I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love.” His rep also told Us, “Wayne is doing well.”
Why was he in the hospital? “He drank too much sizzurp to get a better high,” a source explained to Us. (Sizzurp us an addictive narcotic concoction of prescription-strength cough syrup, sugary sodas and hard candies.) “He needs rehab but he’s not close to death or anything. He’s fine and just coming down off the high.”
Wayne was visited in the hospital by several of his A-list friends on March 16, including Nicki Minaj, Drake and Birdman. Though conflicting reports on the “Got Money” rapper’s health have been circulating this past week, his mentor Birdman tweeted Friday that he “will be home real soon.”

Lil Wayne In Critical Condition?
Days after it was reported that Lil Wayne suffered multiple seizures, the rapper was said to be in critical condition in a Los Angeles hospital. On Friday (March 15), the Young Money rap icon was taken to Cedars-Sinai after enduring yet another set of seizures, according to an online report. But as the story was unraveling, setting the Internet ablaze, the closest members of Wayne’s YMCMB camp were offering conflicting reports.
What we know so far, based on reports, is that Wayne was taken to the hospital on Tuesday and released on Wednesday. But within hours of that release, he was found unconscious in his room by his bodyguards, according to TMZ. The rapper was again rushed to the hospital, although this time, his condition appeared to be even more serious. The website reported that several people in Wayne’s camp were at his bedside and that his mother was making arrangements to board a flight to Los Angeles.
Despite what read like detailed reports from TMZ, citing unnamed sources, Wayne’s close friend and Young Money president Mack Maine refuted the dire claims via his Twitter account. “Wayne is still alive and well! We watching the Syracuse game…thanks for the prayers and concern..he will update you all soon. #love,” he wrote on Friday at 8:19 p.m. ET. “We will be releasing an official statement shortly but don’t believe the nonsense about comas and tubes to breathe….that’s false!”
Mack Maine took to the social networking site again 30 minutes after his initial tweets, this time directing his messages directly at the tabloid site. “@TMZ it’s certain sh–you should not talk about or play with if u don’t kno what u talking bout….dont deceive the fans of the people,” he wrote. “@TMZ and definitely don’t try to kill a man before his time….so from the bottom of my soul and on behalf of my fam…..F—YOU.”
Cash Money CEO and Wayne’s father figure, Birdman, retweeted Mack’s initial tweet before reiterating that there was a statement on the way. He then sent a message of his own, writing, “My son is in good spirit..feelin much betta…be home soon.YMCMB.”
At 9:28 p.m., reassurance appeared to come from Wayne, himself, when a tweet was sent from his account saying, “I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love.”

Lil Wayne Lies, is Not Actually Banned From Anything, NBA Says
Lil Wayne is a liar who is not actually banned from NBA events, as he claimed over All-Star Weekend in Houston, the league said Tuesday.
NBA Senior Director of Basketball Communications Mark Broussard said there "no truth at all" to the claims Weezy made during a performance.
Wayne had told the crowd the NBA had banned him from all events because of his beef with the Miami Heat, stemming from an incident last week.
The rapper claims he was somehow kicked out of a Heat game for rooting for the visiting Los Angeles Lakers; the organization says he left voluntarily.
During the rant against the league, and the Heat, Wayne also boasted that he once had sex with Miami star Chris Bosh's wife Adrienne Williams.
The Heat and the Bosh family have yet to directly address that part of his rant, although she did hint at it with a pair of inspirational re-tweets this week.
This isn't Weezy's first feud with the NBA or one of its franchises, nor the first time the 30-year-old's version of events doesn't mesh with reality.
Last year, he was hilariously denied entry by Oklahoma City because he had no ticket to a sold-out game, which he believed was a personal snub.
