MIXTAPE: 19-year old Sasha Sleek Releases "IT'S A wRAP" Mixtape (@SashaSleek)

Inspired by the world in it's entirety [the mystery, the adventure, the good, the bad and the ugly], 19-year old Abuja-based fEMcee, Sasha Sleek, embarked on her debut mix-tape project aptly wrapped up as "It's A wRAP", about 3 years ago.

The 12-track project had early releases like the fast-paced "Move Your Body" track which was produced by Aluta and savoured by taste-makers from way back. Sasha Sleek went on to release the track titled "Astronaut High", one track that gears up the Hip-hop genre like never seen, especially when it's coming from a 19-year old fEMcee. With other mouth-watering tracks like "Twinkle Little Star" to "Street Religion" and her love-rendition of Future's "Turn On The Lights", Sasha Sleek sure sets a high, strong and tough pedestal with quality production all round.

She is an undergraduate of the Bells University of Technology and the pioneer of the Astronaut Gang [under which she's releasing this mix-tape], a belt under Sleek Entertainment Fashion & Music Group [S.E.F.M.G]; she doubles as a DJ and triples as a Fashion Designer as well. "It's A wRAP [Mixtape]" sure sets Sasha Sleek up for a good cause. Listen up and share your thoughts. | ENJOY!!!

MIXTAPE: Skillions Records / Ebuzu Media Present “Jayso’s On It (Vol.1)”

Ever since UK hip-hop artist, Sway screamed “Jayso’s On It” on ‘Lay Away’ (Sarkodie ft. Sway & Jayso) in 2008, the phrase has become a favorite for most of my fans. I just decided to use that phrase as the title of this project since it became popular around the same period the songs on this project were produced.

I decided to bring these songs back because I believe they could have been big songs if they were properly promoted. I mean, it is up to the artists to promote their songs but I feel like I also have a responsibility to promote my works and let the world know about my ‘hustle’. Another reason for this project is to showcase some artists that I feel deserved a chance to get heard.

Some of the artists on this compilation are very big artists today and some never got an opportunity. I mixed them up so you can hear all of them out. Taking you back to the period they all started. Some of them quit music but who knows? They might bounce back after this project. For all I know, some label or management company could listen to this project and sign one of the artists. Who knows?

Volume 2 will be out soon. That will be a compilation of my favorite demos I produced for underground artists (mainly from Senior High Schools) within 2002 – 2010.

I have come a long way as a producer and an artist and I intend using the platform I have gained to support upcoming artists going through the same struggles I encountered coming up.

MIXTAPE: Kobby Dope (@KobbyDope) Releases Rib Cage Music

"Rib Cage Music is something I have been working for some time now. The tape was actually supposed to be released last year on February 19, which happens to be my birthday but due to certain circumstances was pushed back indefinitely. I know Sergio from high school but I and he really linked up somewhere in August and we started serious work. Sergio suggested I finish up the mix tape. We started by re doing some of the original songs like My Name Is Dopey which was initially recorded on swizz beats’ Its Me B**ches.  Sergio put some scratches on Don Jazzy’s Enigma and I dropped my lines on it. We also redid Ired. I made my brother Don Sedem do a patwoi verse and a hook, my Nigerian friend and the renowned rapper Viva retouched his verse and Drilix also put a 16 on. We also redid Friends with Benefits with Keizy. I had already recorded My Music with Trebla, Skills and Hot Jam sometime in March. I wanted to recreate something with a similar feel so I did two more songs, Rib Cage Music 1 and 2… I needed someone who could do something dope, deep and real so I hit up my man Kojo Cue and got my girl Phillipa to do a hook, for RCM 1. The verse on RCM 2 is actually a very old one I wrote for a poetry event.
Talking about poetry, I decided to flaunt my poetry skills on Adele’s beat. “Life is a b**ch” is a piece I try to use to tell the world that even though we hate our lives and the things that happen to us sometimes, it’s still all we got hence the ending, “life is a b**ch but I guess I keep forgetting that b**ch is life”
Everyone who knows me knows I wear African textiles a lot. I hit up my brother Lex Wealth who is also in the fashion and we did a joint. That’s how SOAP came about. Sergio of course did the beat. The last song “Spartans” is a song I did for Independence Hall in KNUST when they were about to do their dinner and awards night. We did not really use it so I decided to throw it in there as a bonus cos I did that song for the love of Indece (even though I was still paid lol).
I hope everyone will enjoy the tape, or at least a part of it. Every song on the tape has a different audience been targeted. Feel free to let me know what you think about the project by hitting me on my twitter @KobbyDope and using the tag #RibCageMusic #RCM"

-          KOBBY DOPE

RibCage Music Mixtape features Artists like Viva (Nigeria), HotJam (Ghana), KoJo-Cue (Ghana), Trebla (Ghana), Keizy (Ghana), Sedem (Ghana), Ike-TV3Mentor (Ghana), Drilix(Ghana), Propane (Ghana), Phillipa (Ghana), Icebox (Ghana), Lex Wealths (Ghana). The trends and genres played around on the tape include Trap-Hiphop, Classics, Hardcore Hiphop, Afro-Hiphop, Jazz-Hiphop, Gospel, and more. The language used is mostly English and Pigin and a blend of Twi. The lyrics which is attached to the Mixtape folder will help each and every listener out there to somehow understand the ideas used by the Artist.
The Whole management and the Artistry (Kobby Dope) wish every listener of the tape a "farewell" into the journey of "Deep Minded Music", "Advance Word play" and  lyrical dexterity plus Concious lyrical content. and We hope the tape makes the mark it is intended to be.

Thank You.
